Color Change

I need help with and expression that will sample a color from a layer and then set that color to another solid layer. Can this be done? Anyhelp would be appriciated?

What I currently have is a solid with a mask creating a shape. I want that shape to get it color from another layer which is animated so it needs sample and set the solid color as the animation changes. Can you sample a color at a specific X and Y coordinate of a layer? And then use a Change Color to effect to set that color?

I can't seem to figure out how to get a color sample?

You have to use a third-party solution like Digital Anarchy's Color Sampler that's part of thier Anarchy Toolbox.
